We were really lucky this spring to have a delivery of eggs and an incubator in both our 2-3s and 3-5s rooms. After a couple of days cracks appeared in the eggs and we could here a "cheep cheep" coming from inside. Before our very eyes the chicks began to hatch and soon we had quite a brood. The boys were yellow and the girls were brown. Children were able to observe the chicks really closely, touch and even hold them. We learned about taking care of living things, life cycles and changes. The children were fascinated with this amazing real life experience and lots of looking and talking took place. Key workers recorded what the children did and said in their Record of Achievement Books so that this experience will be preserved for them to remember.
